Bike Co-op

about

The UNBSU x REDS Bike Co-Op aims to provide UNB students with affordable active transportation options to promote healthy lifestyles and sustainable living.

The Bike Co-Op provides UNB Students and Staff the opportunity to loan bikes to use for free! The bikes can be signed out from the Currie Center front desk anytime after 9 am and must be returned by 10 pm the same day.

General Usage

To access the Bike Co-op students will go to the Currie Center membership services desk in the Currie Centre. Students will borrow a bicycle by presenting their student ID to the Currie Center staff and will have to sign the Bike Co-op waiver (this only has to be done once per user). The Reds staff member will assign a bike to the student and the student will have the bike until 10 pm that same day. The student will also be given a bike lock, and the staff member will remind the student that they are responsible for the bike so it must be locked at all times it is not in use!

The bikes are available on a first-come-first-served basis, there is no waiting list for the bikes. There is no deposit necessary to borrow a bike. Upon return, the Reds staff will give the bike a quick visual inspection for obvious signs of damage, and bearing no obvious issues or reported issues the bike will be returned, sanitized, and ready for the next user

Instances of Damage or Loss

If a user should return a bike with notable damage it will be documented. The Reds staff will assess the damage and inquire how the damage occurred. It is at the discretion of the Reds staff if the user will be responsible for the cost of repairs, this is dependent on the situation surrounding the damage. The user will lose rental privileges until a decision is made by the Reds staff, this loss of privilege could be indefinite should the Reds staff feel it is justified.

In instances of loss/theft, it is once again to be reported. It is their discretion if the user is to be held responsible for the loss of the bicycle. The user will lose rental privileges until a decision is made by the Reds staff, this loss of privilege could be indefinite should the Reds staff feel it is justified.

Reds will notify the UNBSU through the Vice-President of Events and Services of significant damages, and loss of bicycles. Reds will send the documented incident and the decision made by the Reds staff for their records of the Bike Co-op.
